Zug and Lucerne stick to lessons in classrooms

The loss would be too great to leave children longer during the Christmas holidays, the canton of Zug finds. The canton of Lucerne also wants to avoid distance learning.

"There’s no question of extended holidays at the moment," says the canton of Zug. This is different from the canton of Nidwalden, which has granted pupils three more days of Christmas holidays up to the third upper secondary school.

For the time being, students in Zug will have to return to school directly after the holidays

The children and young people are as safe at school as they are at home, thanks to the protection concepts. Moreover, the " loss of school time" would be too great to justify such a measure, although  the situation is regularly reviewed.

The Primary School Department in Lucerne is also sticking to the 2-week holiday. "We want to avoid distance learning as much as possible," it said on request. If a reassessment is necessary, it will, of course, also be carried out during the holiday period.
