Workman sustains serious injuries as empty oil container explodes

A workman sustained serious injuries as he attempted to open the lid of empty oil container in a workshop in the municipality on Friday morning.

The incident happened shortly after 10.30 am as the 48-year-old prepared to open the container with a plasma cutting tool at premises in the Bösch area of the municipality. As the container had not been de-aerated beforehand, an explosion ensued, leading to the workman sustaining serious injuries, as mentioned.

He was duly taken to hospital for treatment.
