Two arrests during major police checks

Five Central Switzerland police corps carried out synchronised checks on vehicles and people for five hours last Thursday. The police thereby handed out 20 fines.

During targeted searches and traffic checks, the police in Schwyz, Zug, Lucerne, Obwalden and Nidwalden checked around 160 vehicles and 260 people between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. last Thursday. Five people who were listed in the automated Police Investigation System were thereby caught, and two persons were taken into custody.

In total, the police issued 20 fines, and one driver was charged. Police officers also seized a vehicle that was allegedly being used by unknown perpetrators in connection with burglaries.

In addition to a preventive presence in neighbourhood, targeted checks were also carried out In each of the five cantons to combat burglaries, according to the police corps. Further checks of a similar size are also planned in the future.
