Tourist who ended up working fined and ordered to leave the country

While conducting a check of possible illegal workers in Baar, the police came across a Turkish national who had arrived in Switzerland as a tourist but was found to have been working as a waiter.

 

 

It was on Wednesday 1 May that police carried out these checks, the Turkish national found to have been working illegally in a restaurant for 18 days following his arrival in Switzerland in March as a tourist.

 

The offender was duly arrested and, in fast-track proceedings, handed an unconditional fine amounting to several thousands of francs.

 

The 40-year-old was ordered to leave the country forthwith, which he duly did.
