Three occasions to raise the pre-Christmas mood

In addition to the Christmas market, there will be an ‘Iffelen and Chlaus’ celebration, as well as an aperitif on the ‘Lichterweg’ in Hünenberg.

The 39th Christmas market will take place in Hünenberg on Friday, 26 November, from 3.30 pm to 8.30 pm on the Dorfplatz (village square) in Hünenberg. According to the press release, in addition to market stalls, there will be a wide range of culinary delights at the food stalls, as well as a nostalgia carousel. An open marquee will also be set up in front of the Heinrich von Hünenberg centre. The Music School Hünenberg and a barrel organ player will provide a stylish Advent atmosphere with Christmas sounds.

A good week later, on Thursday, 2 December, the Iffelen and Samichlaus celebrations will take place. These begin at 6.45 p.m. in the Heilig Geist Kirche (Church of the Holy Spirit) with gifts then being distributed to children on the Dorfplatz. The Samichlaus (St. Nicholas / Santa Claus) with its entourage, various Iffelen (illuminated displays) and Fackelträger (torchbearers), as well as Trychler (cow bell ringers) will take part in this. Catering is provided by the Guggenmusik Quaker. There will be no Iffelen and Chlaus parade, however. The event is organised by the Klausgruppe Hünenberg.

Warm punch in the orchard
And, finally, there will be an aperitif on Lichterweg (illuminated path)from 6 to 8.30 pm on Thursday, 9 December. On this evening, the Municipal Services (Werkdienst) team will be serving non-alcoholic punch and mulled wine in the middle of the "Hubel" orchard. Drinks are free of charge. A collection will be carried out for the benefit of disadvantaged people. It is also possible to buy sausages and grill them on an open fire. The event will be held in all weather conditions.

Visit the Lichterweg: a romantic and contemplative evening or night walk along the Lichterweg between Hünenberg Dorf and Hünenberg See. It leads from the Chamerstrasse via the Zentrumstrasse in the village, up to the orchards on the Hubel and to the Huobstrasse and the Luzernerstrasse in Hünenberg See (or vice versa).

The lights of the Lichterweg will shine every night from Friday, 26 November 2021, to Friday, 7 January 2022.
