Threatening words on a bus spark a major police deployment

A man uttered threatening words on a ZVB  bus from Zug to Cham. The driver took these words seriously, and the man was arrested after a major search.

On Thursday afternoon, 10th December, just before 12:30 p.m., a man was heard saying threatening words to himself on the No. 6 Cham - Zug ZVB bus (Zugerland transport companies). He used the words "blow up" and "then it’ll go boom", according to a press release of the Zug Police.

These statements were heard by the bus driver, who reacted immediately and informed the ZVB control centre. They in turn alerted the Zug police. The driver then stopped the bus at the "Eichholz" bus stop and asked all the passengers, about 20 people, to leave the bus.

The Zug police immediately called in specialised forces and triggered a large-scale manhunt. A suspect, a 31-year-old man from Croatia, was then arrested in the municipality of Steinhausen shortly before 3:30 p.m. The No. 6  bus was also examined by specialists for any possible traces of explosives, but the investigations proved to be negative.

The exact course of events, as well as the motive for the crime, are being investigated by the Zug police.
