The "Niente Bar" in the Untermüli high-rise is closed

The Niente Bar in the Untermüli in Zug has come to an end from last Thursday: the landlady of the "Niente Bar" in the city of Zug is leaving. This will also affect the popular jazz concerts that have taken place there every month.

Espressos were sipped here in the morning, cocktails in the evening. And, in between, there was a fresh lunch menu every weekday. But that's over now - for the time being: Tina Biberger, who ran the "Niente Bar" on the ground floor of the Untermüli high-rise for about 5.5 years, is leaving. The bar at Baarerstrasse 125 was open for the last time last Thursday. The Zug restaurateur did not wish to comment on the reasons for the closure.

The closure of the "Niente Bar" will also affect the ‘Niente Jazz’ concert series. Urs Rust, a music lover and business consultant from Zug, founded this series in 2015. Once a month, young jazz artists are given a platform, and, from the very beginning, Urs Rust organised the concerts in the "Niente Bar". The last concert took place on Thursday, 29 June - Latin jazz with Brazilian singer Simone Santos on the programme.

Concert series goes "on tour
But Urs Rust promises: "The format will live on." Because the response - from the young talents as well as from the audience - has been very positive., Urs Rust has already been "on tour" with his series during the corona pandemic, when he held the concerts in various restaurants. This is also planned for the coming months until it is clear how things will continue. The next concert will take place on 31 August.

What will happen with the "Niente Bar"? The company responsible for the 60-metre-high, 18-storey building is Brühwiler Immobilien. When asked, Joël Brühwiler says: "There will also be a bar in the future." He says that they are in contact with several restaurateurs and are looking forward to bringing a fresh face to the restaurant.

When exactly the bar will reopen is still open at the moment. But one thing is certain: "Events, whether jazz concerts or others, will be the main focus," explains Joël Brühwiler. The location with the outdoor area is very suitable for this - also because the surroundings are not very noise-sensitive.
