The Metalli shopping centre will dispense with Christmas lights this year

The tenants' association of the Metalli Zug wants to set an example in the context of the impending energy crisis, and will not be mounting its Christmas lights this year.

The Christmas lights of the Metalli have provided joy for passers-by year after year, and were even voted the most beautiful decoration in Central Switzerland a few years ago. Nevertheless, the board of the tenants' association has decided not to mount the Christmas lights this year. This can be read in a communication from IG Metalli Zug.

"Due to the energy crisis, we will not only have to reckon with massively higher costs in the coming months, but also with restrictions. Although our LED lights are very economical, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to set an example and do without our beautiful and popular Christmas lights," says IG President Walter Speck in the statement.

Over the years, the amber lights have transformed the Metalli into a glittering sea of lights during the Advent season. So that customers can still enjoy their Christmas shopping in a festive ambience, the Metalli will be transformed into a magnificent Christmas landscape this year.
