The Geissbüel Tunnel is being checked for safety

The Geissbüel tunnel on the Zug-Baar Tangent Road has to be checked for functionality once a year. For this purpose, the tunnel will be closed on the night of 21st to 22nd September 2023.

To ensure operational safety, various technical systems have been installed in the Geissbüel tunnel in Baar, which is part of the Zug/Baar tangent. This has been announced by the Zug Building Directorate (Baudirektion). In the event of an incident, the technical systems support the self-rescue of road users, immediately inform the responsible incident organisations and would thereby reduce the possible extent of damage.

The functions of the systems in question are comprehensively checked once a year using cross-system checks. This ensures that the systems will function correctly in the event of an incident. The functional checks serve to ensure the safety of all road users.

The tests will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the night of 21st to 22nd September 2023.  During the closure, traffic will be redirected via the Ägeristrasses in Zug and Baar.
