Teacher electrocuted in class no longer in life-threatening condition

It was reported last week that a 27-year-old teacher had to be reanimated by colleagues after he inadvertently electrocuted himself in a lesson. He was subsequently taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition but is now on the mend. Doctors disclosed that his heart did indeed stop beating as result of the shock.

The Zug Prosecution Service (ZSA) is now investigating the precise circumstances of the incident. It appears he was electrocuted by a high-tension transformer whilst demonstrating to pupils how to make so-called Lichtenberg figures (in lightning style).

The ZSA is also looking into whether that, in carrying out such a demonstration, he was putting his pupils’ lives at risk and thereby failed to exercise sufficient duty of care.
