Stored cattle feed catches fire

A smouldering fire broke out In a barn in the "Nesseli" in the municipality of Oberägeri on Friday evening. Thanks to the quick reaction of the owner and the fire brigade, neither people nor animals were injured.

Shortly after 6.30 p.m. on Friday, 27 May, the Zug police received a report that hay stored in a barn in Oberaegeri had caught fire,. Smoke was rising from of a barn in the "Nesseli" areai. This turned out to be a smouldering fire in the stored cattle feed, as the Zug Police announced. There were twelve cows in the barn when the fire broke out, but their owner was able to bring them outside in time.

When the emergency services arrived, the owner was already cooling down the stored cattle feed with water, and the Oberägeri Fire Brigade was able to extinguish the fire completely. It was thereby assisted by the Rothenthurm Fire Brigade. The stored cattle feed was completely removed from the barn and the hay was transported outside to prevent another smouldering fire.
