Six accidents and several injuries over the weekend

Collisions, disregarded right of way and a front wheel that has become independent: there were a number of traffic accidents on the Zug roads over the last few days.

The Zug police had a lot to do last weekend, with three accidents early on Friday evening alone. At 4:45 p.m., a 54-year-old driver stopped in front of a pedestrian crossing on the Chamerstrasse in Zug to let a pedestrian cross the street. A following delivery truck driver realised this too late and crashed into the rear of the car, as the Zug police reported. Fortunately, no-one was hurt.

At almost at the same time, at 4:50 p.m., a 52-year-old woman driver wanted to turn left from the Dorfstrasse into the Sinserstrasse in Hagendorn. She thereby failed to notice a motorcycle, and this led to a side-frontal collision, according to the police statement. The 55-year-old motorcyclist and his 51-year-old passenger were seriously injured in the collision, and were taken to the hospital after receiving initial medical treatment. The motorcycle had to be towed away.

Also on Friday evening, at 5 p.m., an woman  e-bike rider hit a curb on the Alte Baarerstrasse in Zug and fell. The 74-year-old was thereby injured.

The Zug police also had to be called out on Saturday due to several accidents. A vehicle lost oil on the Chamerstrasse in Hünenberg at around 1:30 p.m. A 63-year-old woman cyclist then slipped on the oil and fell, injuring herself. She had to be taken to hospital after receiving initial medical treatment. The road maintenance service then cleaned the Chamerstrasse.

Shortly after 8:15 p.m. on Saturday evening, the front wheel of car broke loose on the A4 motorway. According to a police report, the wheel came off and rolled across the road while the car was driving between Küssnacht and Rotkreuz. Two following cars were unable to avoid a collision with the wheel and were badly damaged, as the police reported. Those involved in the accident were lucky to remain uninjured. The reason why the wheel came off while driving is now being investigated.

Three people were riding on an e-scooter in the city of Zug on Sunday evening, but fell onto the pavement along the Gubelstrasse. One of the people, a five-year-old girl, was injured and had to be taken to hospital with a laceration. The other two people, a 30-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, remained uninjured.
