Single-vehicle accident on the A4 motorway

A driver on the A4 motorway lost control of his car and crashed into the central crash barrier on Saturday morning. Fortunately, no-one was injured, but there was considerable damage to the vehicle and the crash barrier.

The accident occurred at 08:30 am on Saturday morning (11 March 2023), on the A4 motorway between the Küssnacht and the Rütihof junctions. A 45-year-old driver lost control of his car and crashed into the crash barrier. The car then skidded across the carriageway and came to a halt on the emergency lane. The central crash barrier was severely damaged by the impact and debris flew onto the oncoming lane.

The person who caused the accident, his 44-year-old female passenger and a small child escaped with the scare, but were uninjured.

The badly damaged vehicle had to be taken away. Damage to the car and the crash barrier amounted to around CHF 40,000.

Several patrols of the Zug police, as well as employees of a private towing company and the Zentras national road operating company, were deployed to deal with the accident.
