Several campers destroyed in major fire

Huge black clouds of smoke over the industrial area of Baar: Several campers caught fire on a site at the end of the motorway in Walterswil. No one was injured, but the damage to property is considerable

On Friday afternoon, shortly after 1.45 p.m., several reports were received at the Zug Police Operations Control Centre that there was a fire on the Sihlbruggstrasse in Baar. When the first emergency services arrived at Sihlbruggstrasse 99, several campers, a trailer and the canopy of the Burri Motorcaravan residential and commercial building were already on fire. The Baar fire brigade immediately started to fight the fire from all sides, according to the Zug police.

With several teams wearing respirator equipment, the emergency services were able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent the flames from spreading to other campers and to the residential and commercial building.

The fire caused an enormous amount of smoke.

Four people who were inside the affected building were able to leave it on their own. They were examined by the ambulance service at the scene, but were not injured.

The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated by the Zuger Police Forensic Service. The cost of the damage is high, according to the police. Four campers and a trailer have been completely burnt out and several others were affected, as well as a trailer and the building canopy,. The exact amount of damage cannot yet be quantified.

Around 50 members of the Baar fire brigade, the fire brigade inspectorate and employees of the Zug ambulance service and the Zug police were on duty.
