Samichlaus visit to Illuminated pathway cancelled

The rising number of corona cases has prompted the organising committee to take this measure. The association wants to thereby make a contribution to reducing the number of cases.

On Sunday, 5 December 2021, the Samichlaus (St. Nicholas / Santa Claus) would have welcomed children at 5.30 pm at the forest sofa on Lichterweg Baar (festive illuminated pathway). In view of the rising number of corona cases, the organising committee has decided to cancel the visit. This is clear from a communication.

The occasion would still be possible under the new protective measures adopted by the Government Council of the Canton of Zug. However, the Lichterweg association would like to make a contribution to reducing the number of cases. Even if the event were to take place outside, there could be crowds of people, and this should be prevented.

One-way traffic applies
Whether the other events will take place on Lichterweg Baar is to be decided independently by the respective organisers and clubs. Further informed about this can be found on the website www.lichterweg-baar.ch. Due to the corona pandemic, one-way traffic will also apply on the Lichterweg Baar this year. The path is walked clockwise from the parking lot of the Schützenhaus Wishalde (first to the chapel Heiligkreuz and then along the edge of the forest to the forest sofa). In this way, crowds can be prevented. Masks are mandatory in the Heiligkreuz chapel, and a disinfectant dispenser is provided.

1,500 LED lamps to set the atmosphere
The last year has shown how important the Lichterweg is for the municipality of Baar and the surrounding area. The number of visitors was greater than ever before– possibly also due to the lack of other occasions. This also meant that the path was sometimes very "muddy". It’s therefore recommended to leave prams and strollers at home and to put on good footwear. The 1,500 LED lamps on the almost 1.5 kilometre long path at the foot of the Baarburg can then provide a pre-Christmas atmosphere.

In order to ensure the continued existence of the Lichterweg, the association is dependent on donations. If you would like to support the Lichterweg, you can do so on-site. A donation box is available.

Note: The Lichterweg is located at the Schützenhaus Wishalde and the chapel Heiligkreuz at the foot of the Baarburg, and is illuminated every evening from dusk until 11 p.m. from Friday, 26 November 2021 to Sunday, 9 January 2022.
