Reinforcing steel falls on construction worker

A construction worker was injured by falling reinforcing steel on a construction site in the municipality of Steinhausen. He had to be rescued by the fire brigade, and was taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

The accident happened on Monday afternoon, 15 March, on the Bahnhofstrasse in Steinhausen. According to a press release from the Zug law enforcement agencies, a crane was lifting a batch of reinforcing steel shortly before 1:30 p.m. For reasons not yet known, they broke free and fell onto a construction worker from a height of about one metre.

After the 35-year-old man had been freed by the construction workers present, he had to be rescued by the fire brigade by means of a rope rescue. After the initial medical treatment of his leg injuries, he was then taken to hospital by the Zug Ambulance Service. The exact circumstances that led to the accident are being investigated by the forensic service of the Zug Police.

Members of the Steinhausen fire brigade and the Zug Fire Brigade (FFZ), as well as employees of the Zug ambulance service and the Zug police were deployed.
