Police rescue 23-year-old from lake

A woman who had been reported missing was rescued unharmed from the lake by the emergency services. The 23-year-old had covered a distance of about 3 kilometres by swimming at that time.

On Tuesday evening, 14 July, shortly before 6.15 p.m., an emergency call was received at the Operations Control Centre of the Zug Police, reporting a missing woman in Lake Zug near Oberwil, according to a statement from the Zug law enforcement authorities. The 23-year-old had previously been bathing in the lake with a colleague by the Restaurant Kreuz in Oberwil. Her companion had already left the water, and became very worried when the woman did not return to the sunbathing area after some considerable time, and alerted the police.

The Lake Police department of the Zug Police were also involved in the search.

A coordinated rescue operation was launched. The Lake Rescue team of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Zug (FFZ), the Ennetsee Lake Rescue, a rescue helicopter of the Rega, as well as the Lake Police department (Seepolizei) of the Zug police were called in. After a short search, the woman was discovered on almost the opposite side of the lake. At the time, she was near the Choller bathing area, about 500 metres from the shore. In order not to take any risks, the woman was rescued from the water and safely brought to the shore. The 23-year-old had covered about 3 kilometres by swimming.
