A lorry and car were involved in a collision on the A4 motorway between the Blegi interchange and Lindencham on Monday morning, as a result of which the 26-year- woman car driver sustained slight injuries.

The accident happened at 9.10am as both vehicles were heading towards Lucerne on the four-lane section near the Lindencham exit.

It was as the vehicles came into contact with each other that the car was turned on its axis, as can be seen in the photograph. The driver of the lorry, a Ukranian national, was fortunate to escape injury was ordered to pay a deposit on a possible fine. His lorry ended up straddling two lanes of the motorway, which caused congestion to build up.

In a further road traffic incident later that day, a 19-year-old woman driver who had only recently passed her test had her licence confiscated after she was involved in a collision with another car in a misjudged overtaking manoeuvre on Aegeristrasse in Baar yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened at 2.45 pm as the young driver was making her way towards Talacker. On reaching a straight stretch she to moved out to overtake a lorry but collided into an oncoming car as she did so, causing her to sustain slight injuries for which she was taken to hospital. Fortunately, the driver of the other car, a 57-year-old woman, escaped injury other than suffering from shock.

As a result of the accident, in which both cars were written off, Aegeristrasse had to be closed in both directions for some time.
