New road surface for the Steinhauserstrasse

The road surface of the Steinhauserstrasse in Zug is in a generally poor condition, and the road needs to be renovated. The repair of the Rank–Riedmatt section is due to take place on the weekend of 4 to 5 September, while the preparatory work for the installation of a low-noise road surface will begin next Monday, 23 August, as the Cantonal Building Department has now announced.

The surface will be installed in two stages, and there will be a signalled diversion via Alpenblick from Sunday, 5 September. The Steinhauserstrasse will thereby be operated as a one-way road in the direction of Zug. Motorised private traffic and buses heading for Steinhausen will run via Alpenblick. The Rank and Riedmatt bus stops will operate as normal on Saturday, 4 September. Users of the buses in the direction of Steinhausen will face more difficult conditions when alighting or leaving the buses. A transport service will be on-site to assist travellers.

Travel time of the buses will be longer
Buses towards Zug will run without restrictions on Sunday, 5 September. Due to the one-way traffic situation on the Steinhauserstrasse, however, buses towards Steinhausen/Ammannsmatt will run via Alpenblick, and a shuttle service will be set up between the Zugerland Shopping Centre and the Ammannsmatt. The Lorzen bus stop will be used as a replacement for the Riedmatt bus stop. The travelling time with the buses will be extended by a maximum of ten minutes.

Access will be more difficult
Access to and from the properties in the area will be more difficult on the weekend of 4 and 5 September. Access to the properties will not always be possible, and waiting times of 45 to 60 minutes must be expected. As the implementation of the construction work will depend on the weather, postponements of the work to the following weekend of 11/12 September cannot be ruled out. The cantonal civil engineering office will provide information about the exact construction dates at an early stage, and the corresponding information can be found on the website www.zg.ch/baustellen. The construction management will take the necessary precautions to keep traffic obstructions to a minimum.
