Motorist fatally injured in Baar

A motorist was driving on the A4a motorway from Steinhausen in the direction of Baar on Thursday, April 30, just before 9.15 p.m. According to a report from Zug Police, the 58-year-old exited the motorway at the Baar exit and drove in the right-hand lane in the direction of Zug centre.

The car subsequently left the road while taking a slight right turn, came onto the grass strip, then broke through a railing and crashed several metres down between two bridges. The car finally came to a stop sideways on the bank of the Lorze river. The man was trapped in the car and had to be extracted from the vehicle, according to information from the emergency services of the Zug fire brigade (FFZ).

The 58-year-old motorist was injured so severely in the accident, that he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The cause of the accident as well as the exact course of events are now being investigated, continues the police report.

The forensics at the scene of the accident was carried out by the forensics service of the Zug police. The motorway exit at Baar had to be closed in the direction of the Zug centre for the removal of the vehicle and the forensic checks. Members of the fire brigade centre in Zug (FFZ), the medical officer and employees of the Zug emergency medical service, the prosecutor of the Canton of Zug, a private towing company, the Zentras and the Zug police were deployed to the accident.
