Minibus burns out on motorway

Following a technical defect, a minibus caught fire on the A14 motorway between Baar and Steinhausen in Saturday morning.

A minibus caught fire on the A14 motorway between Baar and Steinhausen at 7.40 am on Saturday morning. The 63-year-old driver was able to park the vehicle on the breakdown lane and safely leave the vehicle, according to a report from the Zug police.

The minibus was fully ablaze.

During the extinguishing work by the Zug base fire brigade, traffic had pass the scene of the incident in a single lane. The minibus was a total loss, and had to be towed away. Fortunately, no-one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be a technical defect in the area of the engine compartment.
