Man robbed and beaten up at the railway station

A man has been robbed and beaten up at Zug railway station. The victim had to be taken to hospital with head injuries. Two teenagers have now been arrested and are being held in custody.

Last Friday evening, 25 March, there was a brawl at Zug railway station, triggered by a theft. A 17-year-old ripped a banknote out of the hands of a 34-year-old man he had just met and ran away. The man was able to catch up with the teenager at the junction of the Dammstrasse and the Grafenaustrasse, whereupon there was a scuffle, according to a statement on Tuesday evening from Cantonal Police of Zug.

While the 34-year-old man was lying on the ground, a second teenager came along and kicked the man in the face. The victim suffered significant head injuries, and had to be treated by the ambulance service before being taken to hospital.

The 17-year-old was arrested on the spot by the police, while his accomplice escaped.

In cooperation with the youth attorney's office of the canton of Zug, however, the identity of the 16-year-old could be determined, and he was also arrested on Saturday morning, as the cantonal police continues. The two accused are currently being held in custody.
