Information from the EVZ ice hockey club

Due to the ban on events that has been imposed by the Federal Council, play in the two highest Swiss ice hockey leagues will be interrupted up to and including March 15. This was decided by the league and clubs at an extraordinary meeting of the National and Swiss Leagues in Ittigen on Monday.

The managers of the National League & Swiss League and the 24 clubs in both leagues discussed the further course of action regarding the playoffs and ranking round at an Extraordinary League Meeting (LV) in Ittigen in connection with the ban on events ordered by the Federal Council, which applies at least until March 15.

According to the published match schedule, the playoff quarter-finals in the National League would start on Saturday, March 7th, and the playoff semi-finals in the Swiss League on Friday, March 6th. At least four playoff games in the National League and at least five in the Swiss League would therefore have to take place in empty stadiums. The league and clubs have therefore decided at the extraordinary meeting that the games scheduled in the National League & Swiss League will be postponed up to and including Sunday, March 15th. This also applies to the Ranking Round of the Swiss League. The championship at the U20 and U17 Elite levels will continue according to the schedule until further notice.

If the ban on events is not extended by the authorities, the playoff quarter-finals in the National League, the playoff semi-finals in the Swiss League and the ranking round in both leagues will start on Tuesday, March 17, or will continue in the case of the Swiss League. An adapted game schedule will be published in due course.

In the event that the ban on events being prolonged by the Federal Council and/or if more stringent requirements apply, the league and the clubs of the National League and Swiss League will consult again and decide on how to proceed.

With the postponement of the start of the playoffs, the public inauguration of the EVZ ZVB bus will not take place on Saturday at the Arenaplatz. We will keep you up to date on further developments.
