First Christmas market on the Bahnhofstrasse

From December 16 to December 19, pedestrians have a reason to stay a little longer in the city of Zug . The Christmas market on the Bahnhofstrasse has the support of the municipal authorities.

The idea of creating a small but fine mini-Christmas market on the Bahnhofstrasse for the first time, which is  normally considered as a the through road, goes back to the initiative of Les Deux Men and the Grand Café. The two organisers are creating a Christmas area on the pavement between Bahnhofstrasse 22 and 28. Visitors to the illuminated Bahnhofstrasse in Zug are to be encouraged to pause for a moment, to treat themselves to a mulled wine in the heart of Zug and immerse themselves in a winter world experience. Urs Raschle, the city councillor (Stadtrat) who is responsible for the permits, welcomes the idea and says:

"Especially in difficult times, it is important to create innovations and new ideas. That's why there was no question for me but to support the new idea and help with it’s implementation".

The Christmas market will operate from 16 to 19 December 2021, and will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, 19 December. Phil Dankner will provide timeless Christmas swing and soul in the Les Deux Men Store from 2 to 4 pm.

Food, jewellery and music
Over a distance of 60 metres, customers will find culinary delights such as raclette and roast beef sandwiches as well as jewellery, stylish gadgets and accessories, fashion, Christmas decorations and gift ideas and, of course, mulled wine and ginger punch will not be missing., The market will be complemented musically by live acts, and, if you are lucky, you might even meet Santa Claus.

"The city of Zug is very pleased that there are shops that, even in these difficult times, are still setting up projects together, working well together and conjuring up a festive atmosphere in the city," says Regula Kaiser, Head of Urban Development. She is already looking beyond the Advent season of 2021: "We absolutely hope that the Christmas spark lights up here, and that this still young idea will grow quickly."
