Drunken motorist crashes into bicycle rack

An inebriated motorist skidded off the road on Sunday night and crashed into a bike rack.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, a motorist lost control of his vehicle on the Birkenstrasse in Rotkreuz. The car came into a skid, whereby if came off the road, crossed the pavement and crashed into two metal posts. According to the Zug police, the car then rolled down an embankment, and only stopped when it collided with a bicycle rack.

A Zug Police patrol checked the driver at the scene of the accident. The result: 1.6 per mil breath alcohol. In addition, the driver was also traveling without a valid driver's licence.

No one was injured, but there was material damage to the car and to the bike rack. The 23-year-old will now have to appear before the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug.
