Church organ to celebrate its birthday with a concert morning

One of the largest church organs in Canton Zug was put into operation in the Menzingen parish church of St. John the Baptist in 2003.

A new organ building commission was set up in Menzingen in March 2000, with the task of organising and accompanying the construction of a new organ in the parish churchof St. John the Baptist (St. Johannes der Täufer). The renowned Austrian firm Rieger was awarded the contract, and installed a mechanically operated instrument with 40 stops.

The organ, which was inaugurated with a Collaudation Concert on Sunday, 16 November 2003, is one of the largest in the canton of Zug. Subsequently, it has regularly been presented to the public at concert events. Almost 120 such concerts have been played on the Menzing Rieger organ over the past two decades.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of this high-quality instrument, an anniversary organ morning will be held on Saturday, 30 September, from 9.15 a.m. to 12 noon. Following an introduction by organ expert Felix Gubser and Hans Aregger, the former president of the church council (Kirchenratspräsident), there will be three concerts of about 30 minutes each. The participants are: Felix Gubser, Trix Gubser, Bernhard Gfrerer and Fabian Gubser.

Between the concerts there will be a coffee break in the church square.
There will also be an aperitif at 12 noon in the Vereinshaus.
