Carnival parade and New Year concert cancelled

An implementation is not possible under the given circumstances, say the organisers.

The "Wägwiiser"organisation committee, which plans the Cham carnival parade, has announced that the 2022 parade will now be cancelled. "We have been observing the situation for a long time and had hoped that it would be possible to carry out our carnival parade in Cham in 2022," they write. However, they have now announced that an implementation is not possible under the given circumstances, and that the parade is thereby postponed for another year. The new date for the next carnival parade in Cham is 19 February 2023.

"There may be the possibility of holding an event on a smaller scale at Fasi-Sunntig (Carnival Sunday) 2022," says the organisation committee. They will provide more information at a later date (probably in mid-January).

New Year’s concert in Baar
 

New Year's concert in Baar also affected: It was to have been the first cultural and social highlight of the year. But the popular event has now had to be cancelled at short notice, due to the intensified corona measures.

"The municipal council had long hoped that it could celebrate the new year together with the population of Baar in the community hall (Gemeindesaal) on 1 January 2022," says a statement from the municipality of Baar. This hope has been dashed after the tightening of the corona measures announced by the Federal Council on 17 December, which will come into force on 20 December. The concert of the Austrian brass band from Federspiel would have been feasible with mask obligation. The subsequent aperitif, however, could only have been carried out with masks and compulsory sitting or with a test obligation.

"In view of this initial situation, the municipal council has decided to cancel the New Year's Concert." Tickets that have already been paid for will be refunded, and ticket buyers will be contacted personally.
