Broken car windows and roofs – two people injured

A heavy hailstorm moved across canton Zug yesterday evening and led to numerous firefighting operations in individual municipalities. Roofs were damaged and skylights and car windows smashed. Two people were injured.

On Monday evening (28 June 2021), another strong thunderstorm moved over the canton of Zug. The Operations Control Centre of the Zug Police received around 100 reports between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The municipalities that were mainly affected were Cham, Steinhausen and Baar, and the fire brigades of the affected municipalities are still in continuous operation.

Numerous roofs were damaged In these municipalities, and skylights and car windows were smashed (including that of the translator!). Water also penetrated into properties through the damaged roofs and smashed windows. Some construction site signs were also overturned and there were traffic jams on various roads.

A cyclist was hit on the head hailstones in the municipality of Cham. The 29-year-old woman had to be taken to the hospital by the Zug Ambulance Service. II the municipality of Baar, a female driver was also slightly injured by glass splinters when the hailstorm damaged her windscreen.
