Baar Judoka Adam Batsiev is again Swiss champion

Three Judokas from the Fuji-San dojo in Baar competed for medals at the Swiss Championships. According to the Baar club, this is the 100th medal to be won at the Swiss Championships under the era of coach Laszlo Gombar (47 gold, 21 silver, 32 bronze). The club from Baar has celebrated at least one championship title per year since 1999.

Magomed Batsiev started the first day in the 50 kg category. After an impeccable record, he somewhat surprising lost in the final, and received the silver medal.

Last year's Swiss double champion, Adam Batsiev, maintained this tradition this year. Although still technically a junior, he started in the adult category up to 66 kg - and was the favourite. Batsiev dominated the final, and defeated his opponent with a spectacular throw shortly before the end of the fight. This was the seventh overall title for him. He is also a promising competitor internationally, and gained 7th place at the U-23 European Championships two weeks ago, despite actually being an U-21 athlete.

The third Baar member to appear at the Swiss Championships, Fabio Rogenmoser, finished seventh in the class up to 81 kg.
