Apartment building uninhabitable after a fire in the roof

On Saturday, shortly before 5.45 p.m., the dispatch control centre of the Zug Police received a report that a residential building was burning on the Strandweg in Unterägeri. When the first emergency services arrived on site, the attic was already fully ablaze, according to the Zug law enforcement agencies. The Unterägeri fire brigade immediately started fighting the fire- and entered the building wearing respiratory protection. They were subsequently able to extinguish the fire.

There were six people in the building when the fire broke out, but they were able to leave the apartment building in time and get to safety. Nobody was injured. The house was badly affected by the fire, and is no longer habitable. The municipality of Unterägeri is now looking for a substitute accommodation for the residents.

The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being clarified by the forensic service of the Zug Police. The property damage can not yet be quantified.

Around 60 members of the Unterägeri fire brigade, the base fire brigade of the city of Zug (FFZ), the fire brigade inspector as well as employees of the Zug rescue service and the Zug Police were in action.
