Accidents in snow in Neuheim and Walchwil

A van and a car crashed in two different incidents in wintry road conditions overnight. There were fortunately no injuries, with only property damage.

On Sunday evening, shortly after 9 p.m., there was a single-vehicle-accident on the Sihlbruggstrasse in Neuheim. A van driver was driving from Neuheim in the direction of Sihlbrugg when his vehicle slid in a left turn and crashed into the guardrail after about 50 metres, where it rolled over and came to a stop lying on its roof at the edge of the wood. The 24-year-old driver remained uninjured, as the Zug police reported.

The van was a total write-off, and had to be recovered by a private towing company using a crane before being transported away. A guardrail, edge guard posts, a fence and an amphibian protection wall were also damaged In the accident. The property damage thereby amounted to a total of more than CHF 20,000., One lane of the road had to be closed during the recovery of the vehicle, with traffic being guided past the scene of the accident in single file.

In the early morning of Monday, at 4.30 a.m., a 64-year-old driver on the Zugerstrasse in Walchwil skidded while driving downhill on the snow-covered road and collided with several retaining walls and a fence. The car finally came to a standstill in the railway underpass. The driver of the vehicle and his passenger were thereby not injured, but the property damage amounted to several thousand Swiss francs.

Both the van and the car were driving with summer tires at the time of the accidents. The fallible drivers will now have to answer to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug.
