Woman driver escapes injury after her car bursts into flames

A 47-year-old woman driver escaped injury yesterday after her car burst into flames as she drove between Edlibach and Menzingen.

The incident happened shortly after 4 pm as the woman was driving along a country road known as Cholrain.

Realising there was a problem, she pulled over to the side and abandoned the vehicle which subsequently burnt out, as can be seen in the second photograph.

The fire brigades of Menzingen and Neuheim attended. In addition to extinguishing the fire, they had to take measures to remove diesel oil from a drain, leading to Cholrain having to be closed to traffic for a while.
