Sirens to be tested again

Sirens are to be tested for the second time this year at 1.30 pm this afternoon

Many will remember that there was a siren test across the nation earlier this year, as per usual on the first Wednesday in February. However, this year, some communities were alarmed that no sirens were to be heard at all, due to a fault with software. The cause of this has since been discovered and put right, hence they are to be tested again.

As usual, the siren test today will indicate a “general alarm” with its distinctive regular up-and-down howling tone. In areas near dams, a “water alarm” will also be sounded. Nationwide, and in the principality of Liechtenstein, some 7,200 fixed and mobile sirens are to be tested.
