Räbeliechtliumzug lantern procession
A wonderful little tradition that Switzerland celebrates called the “Räbeliechtli-Umzug” is coming up on Friday, 9 November in Zug. Children will walk from the Reformed Church on Alpenstrasse direction Bürgerasyl along the lake carrying lanterns while singing Swiss songs. The lanterns are carved from turnips are hung from long sticks by wire. If you would like to take part with your children, several Migros shops are providing all materials (turnips, sticks, candles etc.) to make the Räbeliechtli.
This event is open to everyone. Typically the local Kindergarden classes will also have their procession in their local village.
