Police seek e-cyclist and other witnesses to accident

Damage to the tune of CHF 10,000 was caused as a car crashed into the rear of a dumper truck which had had to brake suddenly at a city roundabout yesterday.

The incident happened at 7.15 am at the Feldpark roundabout near the pedestrian crossing on Aabachstrasse.
What happened was that the car travelling towards the city gave way to allow a dumper truck to enter the roundabout from Feldstrasse. The car driver then subsequently followed the dumper truck but as he did so the driver of the dumper truck had to brake suddenly as he left the roundabout as a male e-cyclist rode across the road in front of him. As a result of the sudden braking, the car driver crashed into the rear of the dumper truck, causing damage to the tune of CHF 10,000, as mentioned. Fortunately, no-one was injured.

In order to ascertain precisely what happened, the police have since appealed for this e-cyclist and indeed any other witnesses to come forward. It was noticed that the e-cyclist was dressed in dark clothing, including a dark helmet with a light windscreen visor, at the time.

Those with information they feel may help the police with their enquiries are kindly asked to call 041 728 41 41 without delay.
