Kimi Räikkönen fined after grazing vehicle

Finnish Kimi Räikkönen is one of the best Formula 1 drivers in the world and has been living in Baar in the canton of Zug for several years. As has come to light recently due to a penalty order, he was sentenced to a fine for striking another vehicle with his own earlier this year.

Currently, the Finn and 2007 World Champion is ranked fourth in the Formula 1 World Championship. As the recent penalty order from the Canton of Zug shows, the 38-year-old, who is set to return to the Swiss racing team Sauber next season, nevertheless found himself in a messy situation.

At 9.15am on 18 May, the Ferrari driver was driving on the Früebergstrasse in direction Neugasse. At level Bachweid, so it is described in the penalty order, Räikkönen then swung out to pass by some cars that were parked on the curb. As he was driving past the vehicles, an oncoming car came his way, whereupon he had to evade to the right and came to touch a parked vehicle.

Total costs of 800 Swiss francs

In the penalty order by the Public Prosecutor's Office Zug dated 10 September, Räikkönen was convicted of violating the Road Traffic Act and fined 350 Swiss francs. In addition, he must cover the expenses incurred by the Zug police which amount to 450 Swiss francs.
