The BFU gives award to safe diving platform

Dusko Savkovic, the Safety Delegate of the Municipality of Oberägeri, has won one of seven regional safety awards of the Accident Prevention Advice Centre (BFU) 2021.

The former diving tower on the Oberägeri lido (Seebadi), which was installed in 1969, had considerable deficiencies with regard to safety. Among other things, the plunge depth did not meet the specifications, and the foundation was exposed. According to the press release of the BFU (= Beratungsstelle für Unfallverhütung/ Accident Prevention Advice Centre) it became clear to the municipality and its security delegate Dusko Savkovic after a thorough inspection in 2019: the tower had to go, and a replacement must be found.

Savkovic played a decisive role in ensuring that the tower was closed in good time and that the municipal assembly was convinced to invest in a new, safe diving tower. This is a spiral construction, with the three platforms arranged in different directions. There are sufficiently  high railings for fall protection, and the tower has been given a more suitable location in the Lake Ägeri.

For his commitment, Dusko Savkovic has now received one of the seven BFU Safety Awards for 2021. The prize is endowed with CHF 2,000 for the winning community. The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, 3 November, in a major online event for safety delegates from all parts of the country.
