Prosecutor's office fines four lorry drivers thousands of francs

They worked for a transport company in Zug and thereby violated the traffic rules. The Public Prosecutor's office of Zug has issued fines against four truck drivers, some of whom were traveling without tachographs.

They live in three different countries, but if you were to drive to homes of the four chauffeurs, you would be back in time for  lunch if you started off in Basle, where one of the four truck drivers lives.

In March of this year, the Zug Police ordered an operational inspection of a transport company based in Zug, for which the four men, residing in Switzerland, Germany and France, were working. The result: none of the four chauffeurs had adhered to the rules prescribed by ARV 1, the Driver Ordinance.

It’s going to be expensive for three truck drivers. They have to pay fines of between CHF 700 and CHF 2000 for not following the rules                           Symbolic image: Bruno Kissling

They were therefore fined, as shown by a number of penalty orders that have recently been made available for inspection.

Fines of CHF 2,000
It will be most expensive for a 29-year-old who didn’t operate his tachograph properly between August and October 2021 – on a total of 49 days. In addition, he was not in possession of the required German driver card during the control period, write the prosecutors. The fine amounts to CHF 2000, plus CHF 300 in procedural costs.

A colleague of the chauffeur has had to pay exactly the same amount. The 38-year-old from the Black Forest area of Germany disregarded the break times, and was also on the road for ten days without a tachograph. A 58- and a 42-year-old driver were also sentenced to fines of CHF 700 and CHF 900 for several violations of the break regulations.
