Modular building for refugees on the Lorzenallmend inaugurated

A three-storey modular building in the Lorzenallmend in Zug offers space for up to 350 refugees. The building was inaugurated last Friday, and the first occupants have already moved in.

A three-story, second-hand modular building In the Lorzenallmend in Zug that is intended to accommodate for refugees from the Ukraine was inaugurated last Friday. The building has a floor space of 6,000 square metres and can accommodate around 350 people, according to the cantonal building department (kantonale Baudirektion).

Building Director Florian Weber symbolically handed over a key to his colleague Andreas Hostettler. He was relieved that, thanks to the building, the accommodation of refugees and asylum seekers could be ensured for the time being.

The modular building has been ready for occupancy since the beginning of September, and 54 Ukrainians have already moved in. More than 150 people are expected to live there by the end of the month.
