Landi Hünenberg and LG Rigi want to merge

At the Extraordinary General Meeting, the members of the ‘Landi’ Hünenberg very clearly decided to withdraw from the Fenaco cooperative as of 31 December 2023. Instead, the Landi Hünenberg and the LG Rigi, Küssnacht am Rigi are seeking a merger.

The Landi Hünenberg and the LG Rigi want to join forces, and are planning the merger by 2024. This can be read in a joint communication from the two companies. The focus of the joint venture is on the agricultural business area. In this context, Landi Hünenberg has decided to withdraw from the Fenaco cooperative on 31 December 2023.

"Our future strategic orientation is therefore congruent with that of LG Rigi," says Christian Bircher, President of Landi Hünenberg, in the statement. Hanspeter Bucher, President of the LG Rigi, adds: "The merger brings many advantages for both sides. For example, we can use synergies in areas such as administration or procurement, and make ideal use of our infrastructures."

The Landi store in Hünenberg will be closed at the end of 2023, and an alternative store concept will be examined. There will also be a brand change for the operation of the two Agrola filling stations in Hünenberg and Steinhausen.

There will also be some changes in connection with withdrawal from the Fenaco cooperative. The use of concepts and brands such as Landi, Agrola, Ufa, Landor, Ufa-Samen, Agroline etc. is exclusively reserved for the members of the Fenaco cooperative. Accordingly, the respective concepts, products and services will cease to exist by the end of 2023 at the latest.

Landi may no longer be called Landi
The use of the term "Landi" is also exclusively reserved for the members of FenacoCooperation, and cooperation with the various Fenaco concept providers will cease.

New perspectives will arise from the withdrawal from the Fenaco cooperative and the planned merger with LG Rigi, especially in the agricultural sector, in terms of a free economic area and a free product range, the press release continues. There are realisable opportunities for future investments in the direction of a new agricultural centre, with a grain collection point, compound feed production and central logistics platform.

The responsible managers are pleased with the decision, and are planning the joint future of the new merged cooperative. A merger agreement is currently being drawn up and the organisation of the new cooperative is being prepared for the operational start, which is scheduled for 1 January 2024.

The aim of all those involved is a common, strong, future-oriented and independent cooperative. The focus is on the production and trade of quality products in agriculture and high-performance services for agriculture.
