Grill catches fire on apartment building balcony

A fire broke out on a balcony of an apartment building in Hünenberg on Monday evening (29 August 2022). All the residents were able to leave the building independently.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, the Operations Control Centre of the Zug police received an emergency call that there was a fire on a balcony of an apartment building in the Eichrüti in Hünenberg. Members of the Hünenberg fire brigade were quickly on site and were able to extinguish the fire. At the time of the fire outbreak, there were eight residents in the property. Everyone was able to leave the building independently, and no one was injured.

According to current findings, a gas grill on the balcony of the 2nd floor has caught fire, and the apartment and the house façade were damaged. The exact cause of the fire is being clarified by the forensic service of the Zug police. The material damage is considerable, but cannot yet be precisely quantified. The affected apartment is no longer habitable due to smoke and soot damage, and a replacement accommodation has been organised for the residents.

Around 60 members of the Hünenberg fire brigade, the fire inspector, as well as employees of the Zug rescue service and the Zug police were on duty.
