EVZ ice hockey women back to winning ways

The EV Zug women's team is only one game away from a perfect qualification in the second-highest women’s ice hockey league, SHWL B. The Zug women won the top game on Saturday afternoon against second-placed Bassersdorf 12:1, and have still not conceded a single point in the table this season.

After losing the cup final to SCB on Sunday, 4th February, the EVZ women’s team is back to its winning ways in the league.  Already leading 10:0 in the 2nd third, the Zug girls took things a little more slowly thereafter. This was probably in view of the final qualifying game that was to follow just 24 hours later, on Sunday against Lyss (2.45 p.m., in the Bossard Arena). It is almost certain that the EVZ will thereby score their 300th goal of the season: their goal ratio is now 298:6.

EVZ star forward Lara Stalder collected four scoring points against Bassersdorf (2 goals and 2 assists), the most in this encounter. Ivana Wey, on the other hand, scored the most goals (3), and a total of eleven players got on the scoresheet.

EV Zug played with only four defenders and two centres. This was due to the absences of Annika Fazokas, Annic Büchi, Lena-Marie Lutz and Noemi Ryhner (all due to concussion injuries).

Why not support the girls on Sunday!

Details of the Sunday game:
With a 19:1 victory (6:0, 3:1, 10:0) against DHC Lyss, the EVZ women's team completed the SWHL B qualification. It is the 18th win in the 18th game of the season, the goal difference is 317:7.

Lara Stalder recorded 5 goals and 6 assists in this game. The forward collected an incredible 129 scoring points (63 goals, 66 assists) in 17 matches. No other player with at least 10 games in this country has a comparable points average of around 7.6 per match. EVZ players occupy the top six places on the scoring list.

Zug will face Lyss again in the play-off quarter-final (best of 3) on 24 February.
