Entered Switzerland illegally and was working without a permit

During a traffic control, a man was found who had entered Switzerland illegally, despite an entry ban, and was working as a scaffolding builder without a work permit. He was arrested, charged and then deported.

On Monday evening (27 June 2022), a police patrol in the municipality of Cham stopped a van and subjected the three occupants to an inspection. It was found that one of the men was subject to an entry ban valid until 30 July 2024. The 27-year-old Kosovar had nevertheless entered Switzerland by train from Italy on 4 June 2022. Furthermore, the man stated that he was working as a scaffolding builder, but without the required work permit.

The 27-year-old man was thereby arrested and sentenced to a fine by the summary judge (Schnellrichter) of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug for violating the entry regulations, intentional unlawful residence in Switzerland and unauthorised gainful employment.

The man was expelled from Switzerland and deported to his home country last Friday (1 July 2022) by the Office for Migration of the Canton of Zug. His entry ban for Switzerland and the Schengen states was also extended for a further two years, until the end of July 2026.

The non-cantonal employer of the man is also being held to account, and is accused of violating the Aliens and Integration Act (Ausländer- und Integrationsgesetz).
