Eiche-Zunft to organise joint "Stubenhocken"

Instead of opening the carnival season with the traditional Inthronisation ceremony, the Hünenberg carnival organisers have set up an alternative programme.

The annual enthronement (Inthronisation) of the carnival head of the Eiche-Zunft (oak guild) in Hünenberg was planned to take place next Saturday, 22 January. The day was to start in the morning with the "Sau auf!" (raise the pig). Was to have started - because the events will not take place due to the corona pandemic. Nevertheless, carnival culture will be lived and cultivated on this day in Hünenberg, as the organisers have now announced. Instead of the inthronisation, the Eiche-Zunft will carry out a *”Bunten Stubenhocker Abend" (Colourful Couch Potato Evening).

This will be a live stream from the "Saal Heinrich von Hünenberg", in which sofa conversations about the carnival are to be held with interesting local personalities in a cosy, relaxed living room atmosphere. The evening will be framed by insights into the archives of the Eiche-Zunft, as well as music and games. A limited number of spectators will actually be  present in the hall, while the online audience will have the chance to contribute with interactions.

On the technical side, the Eiche-Zunft will be supported by the "punktZug" association, which has made a name for itself in the past year with high-quality cultural live-streams. The livestream will be open to everyone, and will start at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, 22 January on www.eichezunft.ch/live.

The Eiche-Zunft is working on various options and concepts for the actual carnival week, from ‘schmutzigen Donnerstag’ (dirty Thursday, this year on 24 February) onwards. Their motto: stay flexible for a carnival with responsibility. The information will be  published on the Eiche-Zunft website on an ongoing basis. (www.eichezunft.ch)
