Sudden manoeuvre to avoid cat leads to car ending up in brook

A 19-year-old driver and his passenger escaped injury on Sunday evening after the vehicle in which they were travelling ended up in a brook.

The incident happened shortly after 8pm as the pair were proceeding towards Baar on Schochenmühlestrasse. The recently qualified driver lost control over the vehicle which then veered onto the wrong side of the road, ending up in a ditch. Whilst the pair escaped injury, as mentioned, damage to the tune of several thousands of francs was caused to the car. In speaking to the police afterwards, the driver said he had tried to avoid a cat.
A subsequent breathalyser test proved negative.

The incident led to Schochenmühlestrasse having to be closed for two hours afterwards.
