80-year-old bather dies

An 80-year-old man has died shortly after having been flown to hospital after having previously got into difficulties at the Siehbach lido in the city.

Bathers there noticed how a man was floating seemingly motionless on the surface of the water and brought him out.

When the emergency services arrived on the scene they summoned an Air Alpine helicopter which flew the man to a hospital beyond the cantonal boundary where he later died.

It appears the man may have been suffering from an ongoing medical problem.
