Two slightly injured after car ends up on its roof

Recognising and waving to a friend on the street caused a woman driver to lose control over her vehicle on Wednesday evening, leading to her and her passenger sustaining slight injuries.

The incident happened shortly after 8.45 pm as the 23-year-old approached the traffic lights at the Chamerstrasse-Steinhauserstrasse crossroads from the Zug direction with her 28-year-old passenger.

On noticing a friend on the roadside, so distracted was the driver that she crashed into the support of a traffic-light gantry causing her car to flip over, the vehicle ending up on its roof as can be seen in the photograph.
Extensive damage was caused to the car and road infrastructure.

Various agencies including the police attended the scene with a private breakdown recovery service having to be called out, too.

In a separate incident in the centre of Steinhausen on Thursday, a tanker clipped a low wall as it entered a petrol station at 12.30 pm causing 40 litres of diesel to escape onto the pavement (third photograph).

In addition to the police and fire brigade, officers from the Office of the Environment and workers from the local maintenance depot also attended the scene.
