Reducing food waste: Migros offers blind bags via app

Migros has joined the "Too Good To Go" platform. The free app offers customers food that would otherwise be thrown away at discounted prices. Customers order and pay so-called blind bags for 4.90 Swiss francs via the app. These are then ready for pick up half an hour prior to closing time.

"Most of the bags contain products for immediate consumption - sandwiches, salads and baked goods, for example", explains Admir Sinanovic, branch manager at Migros Schweizerhof Lucerne.

But also dairy products or other foods that can no longer be sold could be reused in this way. Initially, the pilot project will run at three branches: Migros Metalli Zug, Migros Schweizerhof Lucerne, and Migros Hitzkirch. It is planned that the cooperation be extended in 2019 to further branches and product ranges, writes Migros in its communication.
