No-one injured but much damage caused by driver who nodded off at the wheel

Fortunately, no-one was injured but much damage was caused after a lorry driver admitted nodding off at the wheel and as a result crashed into the back of another vehicle which had come to a standstill.

The incident happened shortly before 1pm as the A4a motorway comes to an end in Baar-Walterswil. As a number of vehicles were waiting for lights to change at this location before heading off in the Sihlbrugg direction, a lorry crashed into the rearmost vehicle, causing considerable damage, as can be seen in the photograph; in fact this black was car written-off.

When police arrived at the scene and questioned the 61-year-old driver of the lorry, he admitted having nodded off momentarily. His driving licence was confiscated on the spot and he can now expect to be charged for his offences.
