Motorcyclist flown to hospital with serious injuries

A 32-year-old motorcyclist had to be flown to hospital after he was involved in a collision with a car on Tuesday.

The accident happened shortly after 6.30 pm that evening on a curve Winzenbachstrasse, a narrow country road where vision is restricted.

Fortunately, the 28-year-old driver of the car and his co-passenger escaped injury, but the motor-cyclist was so badly hurt that it was decided to summon an Air Alpine helicopter to fly him to a clinic beyond the cantonal boundary.

Damage to both vehicles amounted to as much as CHF 20,000, with an adjacent road having to be closed for some time.

Earlier that day, shortly before 2 pm, motorists came upon a man who had fallen off his e-bike and was lying motionless on the Cantonal Road in Gulmmatt area of Baar. The emergency services were duly summoned with the 57-year-old was duly taken to hospital. It was thought his fall was caused by ongoing medical condition.

In a further accident on Wednesday morning, a locomotive engaged in shunting work was involved in a collision with a car (second photograph). Fortunately, no-one was injured.

The incident happened shortly after 7.30 am as the locomotive was crossing Industriestrasse, which is currently closed to vehicular traffic. However, a 74-year-old driver leaving an adjoining property did not notice the locomotive, resulting in the collision. Damage to his car amounted to several thousands of francs.
